Elaine Grossinger Etess was Executive Vice President and co-owner of Grossingers, in the Catskill Resort Area of New York State, prior to its sale in 1985.
From 1990 until October 2014 she was Director of Hospitality at Forest Trace, a resort retirement community in Lauderhill, Florida. She has been President of Elaine G. Etess Associates since 1985.
In 1985 she was the first woman to be elected an officer of The American Hotel and Lodging Association. She served as President in 1989 and Chairman of the Board in 1990. Elaine has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Russell Sage College and Sullivan County Community College. She has also been on advisory boards of numerous hospitality colleges. Elaine was selected as Woman of the Year by the Executive Women of Hospitality in 1991.   In 1992 Penn State Hotel and Restaurant Society honored her as their Executive of the Year.
Elaine was active in many community organizations in Liberty, New York, her hometown. She was a charter member of Catskill Chapter of Business and Professional Women of America, and a Life member of Hadassah. New York State PTA awarded her a Life Membership. She was a member of the Liberty Board of Education for 12 years and President for 5. She has been awarded many other honors.
In October, 2002, Elaine Grossinger Etess and her late mother Jennie Grossinger, were inducted into the Hospitality Hall of Honor at The Conrad H. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management in honor of their extraordinary contributions and success in the Hospitality Industry.
Mrs. Etess is the widow of the late Dr. David Etess, a psychiatrist, the mother of three children, grandmother of six and great-grandmother of four.
She frequently lectures about Grossingers and the Grossinger Family.
